Electrolux to buy GE Appliances

LONDON — General Electric has announced it will sell its appliance business to Electrolux for $3.3 billion. The products will continue to be sold under the G.E. name. Electrolux, which is already one of the world’s largest appliance and equipment sellers, had sales last year of $15.3 billion, while G.E.’s appliance business was worth $5.7 billion in 2013. That’s about 6% of G.E.’s overall business, which is worth about $146 billion.
