MISSISSAUGA, Ont. — CertainTeed has developed a formaldehyde-absorbing gypsum board that absorbs noxious elements from the air, and Home Hardware stores are carrying it. Called AirRenew Essential Indoor Air Quality wallboard, it features a patent-pending formaldehyde-absorbing technology that captures formaldehydes and other aldehydes and converts them into safe, inert compounds. Calling it an “industry first,” CertainTeed says the product handles the same as regular drywall. Effective immediately, homeowners and contractors can buy the high-performance wallboard direct from Home Hardware Stores in every province except Saskatchewan.
