SPECIAL REPORT — Ken Sexton died last week, just a few days shy of his 91st birthday, his family reported. The family founded Kenroc in 1967, investing $3,500 from the proceeds of the sale of their cottage to start the drywall distributor. Sexton went on to establish Sexton Group and tool distributor Builders Choice Products, in addition to buying the patents to an upstart panelized brick product, Pan-Brick. Sexton’s death will not impact the business’s succession plan, which was finalized three years ago with the transfer of his voting shares. The Sexton family will continue to own the businesses he founded.
