Napoleon’s barbecue sales heat up during COVID-19

BARRIE, Ont. — Napoleon is finding it almost impossible to keep up with surging demand for its products as people stay at home more than ever.

According to Google data in Canada, searches for grills historically start spiking in mid-May, just before the Victoria Day May 24 long weekend, peaks in early July with the celebration of Canada Day. But this year that spike hit much earlier—in early April, coinciding with the economic shut down across the country that has shuttered most restaurants—and has already hit the peak it usually reaches in July.

The Barrie, Ont.-based barbecue maker reports that traffic to its website by Canadian shoppers, excluding paid promotions, is up 21 percent over last year.
