OTTAWA — Retail sales rose 1.7% in February to $42.2 billion, reports StatCan. The gains, which follow two consecutive monthly declines, were spread across all 11 retail sub-sectors. The building material and garden equipment and supplies dealers sub-sector was up almost 16% from January, and up a healthy 6.8% from March 2014.
