When New York City-based Sycamore Partners bought Lowe’s Canada in a deal announced last fall, media releases said that the Lowe’s banner in this country would convert to RONA “over time.”
Now the reports of Lowe’s stores converting to RONA stores are beginning to circulate in the media. For example on March 1, CambridgeToday.ca, a local media news site, reported that “changes” were coming to Lowes’ Cambridge, Ont., location “sometime this year.”
However, a company official at the Boucherville, Que., head office of RONA inc., told CambridgeToday that everything at the store would remain business as usual. And that the transition to RONA would occur in a “seamless manner.”
Lowe’s private brands, service agreements and warranties, and gift cards will remain unaffected, the company says.
