Throwback Thursday: 20 years ago, Quebec’s Unimat banner was up to three members

On July 28, 2003, Hardlines reported that Coopérative fédérée de Québec had signed two renovation centres and one hardware store under its new Unimat banner, launched the previous year.

We wrote:

“An old name is new again in this province. Unimat, the name of a now defunct wholesaler, is the latest banner to be offered to independent dealers. It’s the effort of the regional dealer-owned wholesaler, Coopérative fédérée de Québec, to develop a retail program for independent hardware and building centre dealers who aren’t co-op members.” The co-op acquired BMR Group as a wholly-owned subsidiary in 2015. The name of Quebec’s largest co-op was changed to Sollio Cooperative Group in 2020.
