MONTREAL — TIMBER MART dealers began streaming into Montreal’s Palais des congrès early Friday morning as the group opened its eighth annual national buying show. All told, more than 1,100 dealers and vendors showed up for the two-day event, which included exclusive buys, an awards gala, and incentives for preferred vendors. The response was strong from all regions of Canada. “Having the venue in Montreal is loved by the dealers nationally,” said President Bernie Owens. With fewer annual buying shows throughout Canada, the group has maintained strength by keeping its focus. “We’ve brought it back to being a true buying show,” says Owens. “The success of the show is all about the independent … It’s about buying.”
