WASHINGTON — Housing starts in the U.S. in February plummeted 17% seasonally adjusted to 897,000, from January. Compared with February 2014, starts dipped 3.3%. Building permits in the U.S. in February 2015 were up 3% seasonally adjusted to 1,092,000. Year over year, they were up 7.7%.
