U.S. retail edges up in November

WASHINGTON — U.S. retail sales rose by just 0.2% in November, according to new Commerce Department data, as the holiday surge was tempered by lower gasoline prices. Excluding gas, sales rose 0.5%. The numbers topped the 0.1% increase forecast by economists consulted in a Bloomberg survey.
