TORONTO — Canadians appear to be choosing Walmart over Target for their holiday shopping, according to research by the Toronto Star. The newspaper conducted a retail “snapshot” of 76 stores on the weekend of December 13 and 14, using Field Agent Canada, a company that pays shoppers to send in retail data on their smart phones. Shoppers were asked to visit neighbouring stores under each banner at around the same time and report on how full they appeared. Out of 38 locations visited for each retailer, 30 Walmart but only 15 Target stores were described as “busy” or “very busy.”
