Winnipeg lumber warehouse and cabinet maker destroyed by fire

A two-alarm fire which broke out in the early morning hours of Sunday, Aug. 6 destroyed much of the structure of ANCO Lumber, a building supply warehouse and kitchen cabinet maker in the north end of Winnipeg. Firefighters had to demolish parts of the building after the fire burned for more than 24 hours. Six houses in Winnipeg’s Dufferin industrial area had to be evacuated.

ANCO Wholesale Warehouse Inc. is owned by Mack Chang. In addition to kitchen cabinets and lumber, it is a purveyor of wood moldings, windows, and wholesale hardware. The business remains closed as of this morning.
