KITCHENER, Ont. — Nanomaterials startup NanoQuan is one of 10 companies selected in July by Stanley Black & Decker for its Techstars additive manufacturing accelerator program. The company, founded in 2014 and operating in the University of Waterloo’s Velocity startup incubator, says it has developed processes for making plastic conduct heat and electricity. “We’re creating plastics and rubbers with properties they didn’t have before,” founder and CEO Ryan Gerakopulos told the Globe & Mail. “It’s gone from lab-scale technologies to industrial scale—we’re at a tipping point.”
